Nainativu Nagapooshani Amman Temple Maha Kumbabishekam was celebrated on Wednesday, 24th January.

Hundreds of thousands of devotees did attended the event on that day.
Elephants, Horses and Cows too had been brought in to give blessing on the Maha Kumbabishekam day.
This Island temple is not a place to make your pleasure trip. This is a Hindu temple fully devoted to the Nagapoosani Amman Deity which is a place for worshiping by Hindu religious people. Flight tickets can be booked now to travel here. Colombo Jaffna Intercity Express Trains and A/C Trains can be booked before 30 days only. Jaffna Airport is functioning as an International airport. flights to and from India are operating in the Jaffna Airport.
Devotees are requested not to wear jewels for the festival
Additional bus and boat services are arranged forthe travelling.
Mobile phone usage, Video and Camera are prohibited in the temple viscinity.
Devotes are requested to come with traditional dresses.
The festival is going ahead as usual with morning and Night poojas and Annathanam.

First boat from Kurikadduvan to Nainativu starts at 07:30 am and the last Boat service to Nainativu is at 05:30 pm
From Nainativu to Kurikadduvan first Boat starts at 06:30 am and the last Boat to Kurikattuvan starts at 05:00 pm
Regular boat service is operating from Morning till evening. Ticket Price: Rs 60/-.

Navratri Festival in the year 2024 will be celebrated from 03rd October, 2024. It will be celebrated for 9 days. And this Navarathiri festival Vijaya Dasami celebration on 12th October 2024, Saturday. This last day festival is also known as Dashahara or Vijayadashami in India.
Under Nainativu Sri Nagapoosani Amman Temple management, Puvaneswary Wedding Hall is being offered to the general public for wedding functions. It was ceremonially opened opened on 11th of December 2022. This Hall is popular with the local and visiting general public.
If you leave from Jaffna in the morning, then you can come back to Jaffna in the evening after worshipping in the temples in Nainativu.

Nainativu History.
This ancient Hindu temple was erected thousands of years back on this Island. Later it was destroyed by the Colonial Portuguese Rulers in the year 1620 CE. In the year 1788, Nagapoosani Amman temple was re-built by the local villagers. This Nainativu (Nagadeepa) is located 35 Km from the southern cost point of India and 30Km from the Jaffna Town. Devotees from India used to visit this Nagapoosani Amman temple by boats, till the passport system was enforced between India and Sri Lanka.
